(1) COURSE ENROLLMENTS

Primary
Includes—by level of student—the total count of the number of students enrolled in primary sections (including M-courses and C-courses), i.e. lecture sections as opposed to labs or quiz sections.

M-Courses
Multiple-listed courses that may appear in more than one department.

C-courses
Cross-listed courses that may appear in a single department as an undergraduate course and also as a graduate course.

Secondary The total number of students enrolled in all of the secondary sections.

(2) COURSE SUBJECTS & SECTIONS

Primary course subjects
Each course number is counted once whether there is one offering or multiple-section offerings—e.g., BIOLOGY 1A with 3 lectures and 5 labs per lecture is counted as 1 and BIOLOGY 233 with just 1 lecture is counted as 1.

Primay course sections
A tally of the number of separate primary sections offered within a department—e.g., BIOLOGY 1A with 3 lectures and 5 labs per lecture is counted as 3 and BIOLOGY 233 with just 1 lecture is counted as 1.

Primary crses w/sec sects
A count of the primary courses that have secondary sections associated with them—e.g., BIOLOGY 1A would count as 3 while BIOLOGY 233, which has no lab associated with it, would count as 0.

Note: The departments of Chemistry and Physics have to be manually corrected since lab sections are shared by the multiple sections of each primary course subject.

Secondary sections
A tally of the number of separate secondary sections.

Note: M courses in each of the 4 preceding categories count as .5 for each occurrence so that if all the enrollment is in only one department the course is only counted at .5, but if the enrollment is in 3 departmental listings, each department gets a count of .5 course. C courses in each of the 4 preceding categories are ignored if they are undergraduate courses but count as 1 course if a graduate course.

Primary M-course subjects
Each M-Course subject is counted once in each department (whether there is one offering or multiple-sections offerings).

Primary M-course sections "# PRIMARY M-COURSE SECTIONS" -- this is a tally of the number of separate M-Course primary sections in each department.

Primary C-course subjects
Each C-Course subject is counted once whether there is one offering
or multiple-section offerings. Ordinarily each undergraduate C-Course would have a corresponding
graduate C-Course, each of which would be counted.
"# PRIMARY C-COURSE SECTIONS" -- this is a tally of the number of separate C-Course primary sections.

(4) STUDENT CREDIT HOURS (SCH)

SCH, including all M-Courses and all C-Courses, are grouped by student level into the following categories:

Major
If students are actually majoring within the department, their student credit hours are counted within this group.

Service
If students are not majors in the department, the units they are taking in this department are counted within this group.

Total
The sum of "Major" and "Service."
